#TruthSeries: Lost in Lust

In the winter of 2009, I was travelling to visit a family friend of mine. I planned ahead and made sure I didn’t leave any stone unturned. I bought my ticket ahead of time and planned by bus route. My carry-on was lightly packed and literature for the journey was also set. I was pleased with how well I planned everything to suite me. I felt like a smart university student whose life is on course until I met her.

I am TRUTH

Chime
Pure, uninterrupted.
abrupt, soothing
Rhythmically beautiful to some,
disturbing and unacceptable by others.
Just like you sound,
I am TRUTH.

Cotton white
Naturally unblemished,
soft on the eyes, fluffy on the skin.
the white of purity.
the divergence of brightness.
Just like you look,
I am TRUTH.

Flowing River
clear, void of stench,
endless stream of cleanliness ,
like the rush of wind, i watch you directed,
glassy, refreshing, bringing life to those you come in contact with
Just like you flow,
I am TRUTH.

Earth
Brown Heritage,
dirty yet full of riches,
establishment resides in you,
dominion lays its foundation on you,
pregnant with purpose to be birthed.
Just like the power possessed,
I am TRUTH.

Rock
Rock solid, solid rock,
out comes the waterfall, full of surprises,
endless potential you possess.
Firm, you hold all that's found in your care,
Fall, that's not found in you.
Just like you feel,
I am TRUTH.

*                                                                  *                                                 *

This is an introductory post to the #SeriesofTruths, i want to share here some truths about me and some decisions i made in the past year, with the believe that someone out there will draw encouragement from it.  This is also going to be open to whoever wants to participate just like "Series of Scars" (Btw, Thanks to all that sent in their stories then) Lets do it again shall we?

How do i want this to work?

  • Send in a story either telling us a truth about you or the truth about a difficult decision you've had to make or a difficult situation you found yourself that can encourage someone out there.
  • Share this post to give more people the opportunity to tell their stories (We are all here to learn right? I know i want to)
  • Share and Share again ;)
  • Send to tomi.akibo@gmail.com and if you feel the truth is delicate and confidential, let me know so i would post anonymously.
  • Let encourage one another, one thing i've learnt is that whatever we go through we are not alone. Lets prove it. your story is what one person might need to hear.
Thanks in Advance.
God bless you.

Off the Playlist - I believe James fortune & FIYA

I listen to this song almost everyday but then going through my facebook and seeing the video and listening to it brought tears to my eyes, I really hope it blesses someone the way it blessed me today.

*******************************************************************

This keeps me going
on those days when I feel like giving up

I believe
the storm will soon be over
I believe
the rain will go away
I believe
that I can make it through it
Oh Oh Oh Oh
I believe
It's already done

I want you to already see yourself out of the storm,
the clouds will move
it's time for you to smile again
come on Shaawn

I believe
my family will get better
I believe
God will provide
I believe
the promise that He made
Oh Oh Oh Oh
I believe
It's already done

The blessing is yours
God's already pre- approved you for it
come on Zacardi

I believe
that my God is a healer
Yes He is
and I believe
that I will survive
I believe
that God is able
Oh Oh Oh Oh
I believe, I believe
It's already done

The world tells us that any two of us
shall agree on anything on earth
that God will do it for us in heaven
and I know sometimes life has a way
of knocking you down to the point where
you can't even pray for yourself
but today I want to agree with you
that it's getting ready to get better
and right now we are giving your problems
an expiration date and we're saying it's over
that you've been crying long enough,
that you've been worried long enough,
that you've been struggling long enough
and I believe that God's gonna do it for you

I believe
God's gonna do it
yes he will
do it for you
I believe
it's gonna get better for you
I believe
God's gonna do it
he's gonna do it
it's got to get better
better for you...

I believe (I believe)
God's gonna fix it (God's gonna fix it)
Yes he will (Fix it for you)

I believe (I believe it's gonna get better)
It's gonna get better (better for you)

I believe (If nobody wants to help you)
God's gonna fix it (God's will fix it) fix it for you
Yes he will (if you just believe)
I believe it's going to get better, better for you

Talk to em shawn

I know you've been crying at night
but I came by to let you know that
it's gotta get better
for you

To the single parents
Go in the room and grab your children
put your arms around them and let them know
it's gonna get better
for you

Oh, if you trust in him hang on in their,
God told me to tell you that it's gonna get better
(God's gonna do it) (for you)
You can't have it, you can't have it.
You gotta give it to Jesus (give it to Jesus)
oh won't he work it out? (yes he will).
If you believe it say...

I believe (I believe)
your money's gonna get better
(I believe)
things are gonna work out for your good
(tell somebody) (for you)
Oh you gotta believe (I believe)
that cancer will bow down
(I believe) your job won't be the same
Tell somebody (for you)-
Yes I do believe (I believe),
Yes I do believe (I believe)

you better call somebody right now and tell them
God's gonna do it (for you)
weeping may endure oh for a night
oh joy (if you don't remember anything else)
I believe (remember this)
your storm is over
I believe
your rain is gone away
(clouds have moved)
I believe
you'll make it through it,
oh I believe
oh it's already done
I'm excited about your future.

Book Review: For Laff's sake by @ilola

The book is a comedy and i read through and although i wasn't exactly rolling on the floor laughing, It did make me laugh, not the straight face kind of one we use over the internet, in between all the humor found in the book, love that Atilola brought in key issues that are affecting us as humans and as a society.

This is an excerpt from the book..... and trust me this is just a chip, its worth it.

Enjoy.

Exactly How?

Jamiu was a very curious lad. It is a wonder that he is still alive as Curiosity has yet to kill him, like it did the cat. Because of this, he knows many things a child of his age has no business knowing. In fact, the shape of his ears has been quite altered, because adults keep pulling it anytime he’s caught pulling one of his eavesdropping stunts. But it seems the more his ears are pulled, the longer they get, and the longer they get, the more they prickle for more juicy information. His family and friends had tried hard, but could find no solution for his eavesdropping habit.
Jamiu lived with his parents in a one-room apartment. On a particular day, some of his family members had come from his village in Ekiti for a family meeting. Because of Jamiu’s special gift of eavesdropping, they sent him to play with his cousins in his uncle’s house, two streets away. Unfortunately for Jamiu, he had forgotten to take his rubber ball before leaving home. Jamiu could however not imagine having to play with his cousin, without the aid of a rubber ball to kick around, so he decided to go back home, just to ‘get his ball’. Whether Jamiu intentionally or unintentionally left his ball at home is a fact that nobody would really find out till the end of time.
When he got home, the meeting had already started, and the door had been locked. Jamiu saw the ball he came to pick, right in front of the door, but the sound of the muffled voices coming from inside the room was too appetising for him to resist. So in his usual manner, he settled comfortably at the door, and pried his long ears at the hole of the door knob to do what he knew how to do best, looking around to make sure he wasn’t caught by anyone.
What he heard was best imagined.
******
“So Mama Jamiu, as I was saying, Tayo, Jamiu’s real mother is back at home with me. She has long recovered from her mental illness, after Baba Elewe Omo, the native doctor she has been with for the past eight years, concluded her treatment.” Jamiu’s grandmother started.
“That is good news mama mi[1],” said Jamiu’s father.
“That is not all,” Jamiu’s grandfather interrupted. “She has requested for her child to be brought to her.”
“No o, baba mi[2]. That is not possible. How can I send Jamiu to go and live with an ex-mad woman? I would never do that.”

Lost in Translation?

Sweat trickling down the side of my face on a hot afternoon in the confines of my mother's shop, listening to the voice of Andrew Wommack coming through the speakers slapping me with radical revelations of the truth.

Than it hit me - Hard.

The meaning of something he just read from his Bible wasn't the same meaning with the Bible i was holding, and what made the difference was just one word O_o

I asked myself, How much truths have i missed because of the translation i was reading?

What translation should i even be reading? (As i know the Bible wasn't originally written in English)

So, I took my spy kit(always wanted to use that word), armed with Google(ofcourse) and i went researching

"History of the Bible and how we came about the Translations" (Yes, females type sentences on Google search- bite me)

This is what i found (Read here) you should really read that.

I also did a little more digging to see parallel translations and how their meanings differ, before i give the link to that, let me ask a few questions
by show of hands please,

How many of us have heard about the message translation? *Counts raised hands*

How many of us have read the message translation? *Counts raised hands*

How many of us have understood the message translation better than other translations? *Counts raised hands*

Now, How many of us have gone O_O after reading some scriptures in the message translation? *Counts raised hands*

I've read the message alot of times and honestly i did get to understand and get the context of the word better after, however there are just some passages that i go O_o on and makes me uncomfortable but then i relaxed abit because i felt its supposed to be "The Bible" its gotta be right someway somehow. right? (Please, use the comment box if you disagree)

I found this article (Click to view) about the message in my research adventure, while the article centers mostly about the editor and translator of the Message Bible it also highlights other translations and how the meaning of the Bible has been changed with every translation.

Going to give a few examples

Extracts:
"Galatians 3:2–4 (ESV)
2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? 4 Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?
 Galatians 3:2–4 (NIV11)
2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh? 4 Have you experienced so much in vain—if it really was in vain?
Galatians 3:2–4 (The Message)
2 Let me put this question to you: How did your new life begin? Was it by working your heads off to please God? Or was it by responding to God’s Message to you? 3 Are you going to continue this craziness? For only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. If you weren’t smart enough or strong enough to begin it, how do you suppose you could perfect it? 4 Did you go through this whole painful learning process for nothing? It is not yet a total loss, but it certainly will be if you keep this up!
Notice that in verse 2, Paul says we received the Spirit by believing in the Gospel. In Peterson’s “translation”, we receive “new life” — not the Spirit —by believing. And for no reason found in the Greek, Peterson removes the Spirit in verse three
Read More here

"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book" Revelation 22:18-19

This is not an attack on The Message translation, but after i studied and noticed that there are watered down versions of the Bible that keep us from knowing fully and understanding the truths and knowledge of God, i decided to stick to KJV which is the closest to the greek version that was originally written, Many people will say "Its to difficult to understand" but one thing i've learnt is that the Holy Spirit is ALWAYS there to give us wisdom of the truth. ASK

I would conclude with this extract from the first article

"As Christians, we must be very careful to make intelligent and informed decisions about what translations of the Bible we choose to read. On the liberal extreme, we have people who would give us heretical new translations that attempt to change God’s Word to make it politically correct. One example of this, which has made headlines recently is the Today’s New International Version (T.N.I.V.) which seeks to remove all gender-specific references in the Bible whenever possible! Not all new translations are good… and some are very bad"

Would LOVE to hear from you, please use the comment box! Thanks.
